2023 Hippner “Especial”

Woods:  figured Brazilian rosewood back and sides with figured beaclaw spruce top. Spanish cedar neck. French polish shellac throughout.

Specs: 650mm scale, 52mm nut, 43mm string spacing at nut, 58mm at saddle. 4mm string height 12th fret, bass side. Hard wood case, 12 hole tie block, two sound ports,  maple laminated sides.

Comment: this Hippner “Especial” differs from the Hauser replicas on the site in that it features laminated sides, which create weight/mass that gives the voice more of a rounded, naturally resonant character. Also a founder guitar, much in the fashion of the Giussani here.  A handsome and easy to play instrument.

Darren seems to have some of the most interesting sets of aged wood of any current luthier. All four Hippners in hand have handsome Brazilian back and sides. To find a guitar of this quality at this price is impossible to match.
