2023 Turkowiak offset soundhole

Woods: figured American sweet gum back and sides, laminated. Red cedar top, maple neck. Oil finish throughout.

Specs: 650mm scale, 52mm nut, 43mm string spacing at nut, 58mm at saddle. 4mm string height at 12th fret, bass side. Custom hard shell case. Custom Turkowiak tuners. Offset sound hole.

The Turkowiak family is producing guitars that employ many original features, including:

1. Wave resonator–the profile of the top is not dead flat but has a wave shape built into the area above the bridge that is shown to increase resonance by 25-50% over traditional guitars. Jim Redgate is thought to have discovered this phenomenon in his work.
2. Minimal winged bridge–by reducing the mass and area of the bridge, there is better transmission of the energy of the strings through the saddle to the top
3. Hollow  “acoustic tube” neck–with reduced mass and sound ports at the 12th fret, the performance of the guitar is enhanced, mostly in the area of sustain
4. Parabolically curved back–as with Australian lattice builders and some American luthiers, such as Tim Harris, acoustic response is enhanced, much as with a violin.
5. Offset sound hole–though one would assume a central sound hole must be the best place, just because it has always seemed so, does not overcome the remarkable power this placement produces. A literal torrent of sound pours directly into the player’s environment.
6. Chamfered arm rest–instead of an applied arm rest, this small area affords comfort in an ergonomic way.

Comment: this guitar is a beast. The most powerful instrument I have played. It is bright, direct, out front.  For anyone who appreciates a deep bass response, this beats anything on the market, and yet the trebles are right there to balance. I just wanted to let you know that after playing this thing for several hours a day since I returned, I love it even more!  I’m absolutely in love with the sound.  I realize now that I was overplaying it down there.  I side effect of having to beat my old guitar to get any volume out of it.  It really doesn’t require much force at all to play.  I liked all the guitars you showed me, but this was the most playable of the bunch.  And now that I’ve actually looked at it, it’s pretty good looking too! Thanks again for your assistance and hospitality.  I couldn’t be happier with this guitar.
